Neville “Dick” Lysle Aiken Rhodes (OKG28)

Knox's #29 Student 1924

Neville was the 29th enrolled student at Knox. He attended the School from 1924 to 1926 as a member of North House.

Neville played on the School’s first 1st XV Rugby team and first 1st XI Cricket team for the three years of his attendance. He won the inaugural Bowling prize in 1924 and was appointed 1st XI Captain in 1925 and 1926. Neville also participated in Track and Field. He was a member of the first Old Knox Grammarians’ Association Committee of 1929 and continued to serve in 1930.

After school, Neville became a wool classer and later worked in real estate. He married Joan Taylor in 1935 and had a son. He enlisted in the Australian Army rising to the rank of Sergeant.

His son Stuart (OKG61) and two grandsons attended the School. Neville’s father was the original owner of Chilton’s Orchard, which was later sold to the School and became Gillespie Field .
