Carl Driscoll Fisher (OKG31)

Knox's #31 Student 1924

Carl was the 31st enrolled student at Knox. He attended the School as a boarder from Gulargambone, NSW from 1924 to 1930.

Carl played on the School’s first 1st XV Rugby team and was selected again in 1930 achieving Colours. He was selected to the Associated Schools XV. In 1928, he was awarded Age Champion in Track and Field and also won medals from 1925-1927.

After school, Carl worked on the family property and became engaged to Margaret Stackpool. He enlisted in the Army and was tragically killed in a training accident in 1943. He is remembered on Old Boys’ War Memorial. The School is privileged to hold memorabilia from Carl’s time at School as well as his military service.

The Rugby Football Challenge Cup, for House rugby competition, was donated by his father AB Fisher and first awarded in 1926.

Carl’s brothers Rex (OKG27) and Arthur (OKG33) attended the School. Rex’s son, Tony (OKG53), and Arthur’s grandsons (sons of David Fisher) Benjamin (OKG94), [JC1] Jock (OKG96) and Toby (OKG00) also attended.
