James Alfred Chisholm Stephen (OKG33)

Knox's #33 Student 1924

James was the 33rd enrolled student at Knox. He attended the School as a boarder from 1924 to 1930.

He participated in House Oration and Cricket and played in the 3rd XV Rugby team. James achieved a Bronze Medallion and Proficiency Certificate in Life Saving.

After school, James enlisted in the Militia and became a salesman. In 1941, he enlisted in the Australian Army serving in World War II as a Sergeant in the 10 Australian General Hospital. He was taken as a prisoner of war in Malaya in 1942 and discharged from service in 1946. After the war, James married Linda St Clair Smith.

His brother John V C Stephen (OKG30) and son John S C Stephen (OKG68) also attended the school.
