Biographies

Clifford William Opie (OKG31)

Knox’s #6 Student 1924

Clifford was the sixth enrolled student at Knox. He attended the School from 1924 to 1931 as a member of North House.

He was awarded second place in Form II in 1924 and the Latin Prize in 1926. In 1929 and 1930, he placed second and third in Form. He capped his attendance with a sixth place in Form VI. Clifford participated in Rugby and Debating, as well as House competitions. In his final year, he played on the 2nd XI and the Associated Schools 2nd XV. Clifford also served as the Sub-Librarian.

After school, Clifford studied Law and became a solicitor. He served on the OKGA Committee in 1939. Winston enlisted in the Australian Army in 1940. After the war, he married Noni Craven-Sands and they had three children.

Clifford’s cousins, Richard (OKG35) and James (OKG36) also attended the School.
