Theodore Marcus Clark (OKG34)

Knox’s #7 Student 1924

Theodore (pictured centre) was the seventh enrolled student at Knox. He attended the School from 1924 to 1934. He played in the 1st XI from 1932 to 1934, receiving Cap and Colours and captaining the team in his final year.

He was part of the Kirby Shield Drill Squad and served as SUO of the Cadets in 1934. He was a Probationer of North House participating in House competitions and Drama productions. Theodore was on the Grammarian Committee in his final year. In 1934, Theodore was the last remaining student of the boys who started in 1924.

After school, Theodore studied Law at the University of Sydney and worked for Marcus Clark Ltd. He got married to Kathleen Crossing in 1941 and they had a son. He enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force in 1940 and sadly, was a casualty of war in January 1942. He is remembered on the OKGA War Memorial.

Since 1945, the T Marcus Clark Memorial Prize for the Captain of Cricket has been awarded on Speech Day. In 1993, he was remembered in the OKGA Honouring Service.

His cousin John Byron Marcus Clark (OKG33) attended the School and is remembered on the OKGA War Memorial.
