Andrew Wines

Dr Andrew Wines was appointed to the Council in 2023. He is also a member of the School’s Infrastructure Committee.
Andrew attended Knox from 1980 to 1987. In Year 12 he was Captain of the School, Senior Cadet Under Officer and Captain of the 1st XV and debating teams. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney in 1994 and became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2002. He is a foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon with appointments to Royal North Shore, Ryde, Northern Beaches, Dubbo and several private hospitals. He is a partner of the North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre.
He is the President of the Medical Benevolent Association of NSW and the ACT, First Vice President and Treasurer of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, Treasurer of the International Orthopaedic Diversity Alliance and head of the orthopaedic department at North Shore Private Hospital. He is on the Board of St John Ambulance NSW and a director of the Sydney Foot and Ankle Research Institute. He is a member of the Old Knox Grammarians’ Association committee and Chair of the OKGA Benevolence Program. He is a Churchill fellow, a Lifeline telephone counsellor, and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
His son, Angus, was Captain of the School in 2023.
